Where is Anderson Event Park?
Anderson Event Park is Northern Ontario's newest event park. Boasting a professional rodeo ring, regulation truck and tractor pull, atv mud bog, seating for over 5000 people and a campground that holds over 1500 trailers! In 2025, our team built a regulation race track! Located in Papineau-Cameron Township just 45 minutes from North Bay and right at the gateway to Northern Ontario, this is the ultimate year-round event playground!
In 1973, what locals often refer to as The Mill, was built. Under operation by Sklar Furniture, the company built a large dimensional lumber plant and over the years of ownership expanded until Tembec acquired it. Tembec was a paper company with operating divisions in forest products, pulp, paper and paperboard, and chemicals. While in operation, it had 500 employees at one time. Unfortunately, The Mill shut down in 2008. After closing in 2008, The Mill went through a variety of owners with potential business opportunities, but with so many hurdles, these businesses simply never took off. In 2020, Garry and Jennifer Anderson purchased The Mill. The plan was to use the property as a log yard for their quickly expanding business Anderson Trucking Ltd. Over the years, the Anderson Trucking team maintained the land and began demolition of some of the buildings that were no longer safe. Garry and Jennifer knew that this land had great potential as more than just a log yard and they figured out what that purpose was in the fall 2023.
When Garry and Jennifer Anderson heard that Smoke ‘N’ Spurs Festival -a popular country festival - was looking for a new home, they knew that The Mill would be an excellent location. The 137-acre property was the perfect location for them to mesh their personal passions into a community event in a town that so desperately needed something to do. Garry and Austin (son) are big rig enthusiasts, racing their transport trucks in international competitions. Jennifer and Madison (daughter) have a passion for horses. Having attended Smoke ‘N’ Spurs at its previous location, they knew it would be a huge undertaking, but they had the resources, land and passion to bring it to Papineau-Cameron Township. Together with a committee of 6 and consulting from the previous owners, Smoke ‘N’ Spurs was brought back to life at 60 Neault Road. No one could have imagined how hosting that event would turn this old mill site into a popular event grounds. 2025 promises to be an exciting year with events already booked and land continuously being improved. We look forward to hosting your event soon!
